Jr Iditarod 2014- Jannelle Trowbridge

Last weekend we had the opportunity to see Jannelle (my niece) race in the Jr Iditarod.  With limited snow, sled practice and missing some school along with some ice challenges and turned sleds Jannelle finished the race with triumph and confidence, (even with a torn up hand!).  First finishing female and 6th place overall, she hopes to come back and compete again next year.    I am proud of her accomplishments and showing how tough and capable she is. Well Done Jannelle!

Northern Lights Nome, AK

I have lived in Nome now for a few months shy of a year and I have finally seen the lights that every one thinks are out every night.  I was out feeding the dogs saw the wonderful greens and really wished I had the camera.  Thankfully, I forgot a feed bucket and had to go home.  I grabbed the camera too.  They really are amazing, they change shape really fast and swirl around.  They remind me of brain neurons and electricity running in slow motion to the synapse.

2014 Kuskokwim 300 - Montage Video

Once again the high school did a great job of putting this together!

Kuskokwim 300 Overview-2014

Kusko300 Trowbridge and family.

The local high school did a really good job of putting together little videos for all the mushers and community.

Click here to see a Video of Rolland at the finish.

Interviewed by our own Nomite Laureli Kinneen, News Director, Rolland shares a little about his experience.  The dogs ready to sleep and rest for the rest of the day and Loess giving a sad puppy face.

Good Puppies!

After watching Rolland's GPS locator as our only clue to how Rolland was doing, we finally see him come out from the woods on to the river. We actually could hear him talking to the dogs before we could see him. It was great to see the dogs, and to see them running to us! They made it!
